Dangerous Borders comes to BBC Two

BBC Two have commissioned October Films to produce a 3-part documentary series to mark the 70th anniversary of the Partition of India and the creation of Pakistan.

As part of the 70 Years On: The Partition Story season, Dangerous Borders: A Journey Across India & Pakistan sees journalists Adnan Sarwar and Babita Sharma travel either side of the contentious Indo-Pakistan border.

From Sindh and Gujarat in the south to Gilgit-Baltistan and the volatile and fiercely-contested region of Kashmir in the north, they travel through landscapes of extraordinary variety and often staggering beauty. On their journey the pair discover enduring traditions, surprising religious diversity and unexpected flashes of modernity in the countries of their respective parents’ birth. It is also a chance for our presenters, Adnan of Pakistani descent and Babita of Indian, to understand the countries of their parents’ birth and ultimately their own identity as British Asians.

The shadow of Partition hangs over both India and Pakistan, but where do these two mighty nations and their people stand in the 21st century?

The 3 x 60’ series, produced in partnership with The Open University, will air on BBC Two at 9pm weekly from Monday 14th August 2017.
